Heart Of Man

     Oh Heart of Man
     What is the breadth
     and what is the compass
     of thy hatred

What massive scale could measure thy loathing
Hath thy clay fallen so far from the good Potter's wheel
Standing on the edge of that stark precipice
My heart is filled with dredful trembling
for the price of thy recovery

Of ignorance, I pled my Lord to show me
and unable to comprehend those dark depths
     my plea became
God of my fathers, gouge out mine eyes
and take this aweful scene from me

     Oh Heart of Man
     What is the breadth
     and what is the compass
     of thy hatred
